This is partly why the Golan Heights is such disputed land. (It's also militarily strategic land.) Even though all you initially see may be flat, dry plateau, there are canyons full of surprises like lush green jungle and waterfalls.

I love these signs. Damascus was only 40 miles away from us. Too bad I can't get into Syria (along with several other countries) unless I conveniently lose my passport. :(

wow, how amazing. borders of countries always fascinate me. they are so controversial and they spark up so many wars/historic events yet they're man-made. they're like ... not even real.
